The highlight of this tour is the town of Stykkishólmur with its bustling fishing harbor and magnificent views over the Breiðafjörður bay, famous for its countless islands and abundant bird life. Other places of interest that we will visit: The local folk museum in the town’s oldest house, “the Norwegian House”; Bjarnarhöfn farm where we will i.e. visit a little privately owned wooden church and where we will also learn about the processing of shark meat and have the opportunity to taste this very special delicacy; Helgafell (The Holy Mountain).
Activities: A cruise through the south islands of Breiðafjörður, taking about 2 hrs. 15 min. On the way, we see the fantastic variety of bird life in Breiðafjörður fjord, the strangely shaped cliffs also appear, and sail through the tidal currents and see some of the other island highlights. A net is sent out and brought in full of shellfish. Passengers have a chance to taste the newly caught shellfish and sample the delicacy of sea-urchin roe, as well as other seafood.
Including professional Scandinavian speaking guide, boat cruise, lunch, admission to the “Norwegian House” and to Bjarnarhöfn farm.
