Conference
on Icelandic Language Technology
The
Icelandic LangTec
Project, which the Ministry of
Education, Science and Culture launched in
2001, will officially end by the end of this year, even
though some of the projects that it has funded are still
ongoing. On this occasion, the steering committee of the project
organized a conference
on Icelandic Language
Technology. Six
projects that have been
funded by the LangTec
project
were presented at the conference, which was held in Salurinn in
Kópavogur on November
30th. The conference was well attended and the talks were met with
great interest. Icelandic language technology has gained considerable
ground in the last couple of years, mostly due to the new funding
possibilities created by the LangTec project.
The
talks
given at the
conference were published in a booklet
which
also contains an address
by the Minister of Education,
Science and Culture, Ms Þorgerður Katrín
Gunnarsdóttir, and an overview
of the project by the project
leader, Rögnvaldur
Ólafsson Ph.D. The
booklet is in
Icelandic, and can be read here
as a
whole. Individual presentations can also be found under Articles
on Icelandic LT.
