Workshop
on digital documentation for endangered languages
The
Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute of Foreign
Languages at the University of Iceland will be
hosting an international conference in Reykjavík on April
14th and 15th
2005, along with the Rector of the University of Iceland, The Ministry
for Foreign Affairs, The Ministry of Education, Science and Culture and
The City of Reykjavík, honouring Madame
Vigdís
Finnbogadóttir on her
75th birthday.
One of the
main events at the conference is a workshop in two parts sponsored by
the Nordic Council of
Ministers, entitled Language
and cultural diversity. Digital documentation for endangered languages.The former
section concentrates
on endangered languages and the latter section on digital
documentation/language technology as a tool for endangered languages.
Keynote speaker will be Professor David Crystal. Further information on
